Memorial Day is a day set aside for our country to honor the fallen. People that do not have an affiliation with the military may not understand the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Speaking from the position of being a veteran and a military spouse, we appreciate the thanks for service that are offered up during both holidays, however, please don’t forget to acknowledge the fallen on today. You may have heard it a million times, but they paid the ultimate sacrifice for each of us. They deserve a moment of silence, a prayer of appreciation, and their families deserve support on more days than one. Being a member of the Armed Forces is no easy decision to make. They serve knowing that the lives of their friends, battle buddies, and their own can be taken without warning, directly affecting those left behind. On today and always, I ask that you remember the fallen and appreciate those that are currently risking the same.
