This is the first time that I am able to celebrate Small Business Saturday as a small business owner. I have come a long way in my journey to pursuing my dreams and it is the greatest feeling in the world. People that have taken major leaps of faith say that they would have taken those steps sooner if they had known about the freedom and gratification that awaited them. I am now one of those people.
For years I was scared to ‘go legit’ for various reasons, but the major reason was for fear of failure. I was scared that I wouldn’t be as successful as I wanted to be and that failure would prevent the other people in my life from pursuing their dreams. Now I am able to look back on that mentality and recognize it for what it was. It was an excuse that prevented me from experiencing the fullness of life in the truth of who I am.
I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, registered nurse, photographer, a woman pursuing her dreams, and a black veteran small business owner. No one can define success for you. You must write your own definition and take steps to achieve it. Your passion and commitment to the pursuit will inspire others along the way. I am so beyond thankful to my clients, family, and friends for their support!
